Who we are

Spina Bifida, spinal cord injury that occurs early in pregnancy and hydrocephalus (excess cerebro spinal fluid accumulation in the head) is a medical condition that occurs during conception of a baby. It’s claiming the live of too many children or leaving them permanently disabled due to limited awareness of the general public and limited availability of the medical treatment and rehabilitation service. Though the condition could be treated early, most of these children do not reach the age of five in our country’s context. Therefore, on time access to medical services , multidisciplinary care and rehabilitation services are needed to help them be productive member of the society.

HOPE-Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (HOPE-SBH) is an association founded by parents and families of the victims. The organization is aimed at improving the existing situation in the country by contributing to the prevention, treatment and care.
